Welcome

Welcome!

Welcome to Grace Student Ministries! We would love to get to know you and see you at any of our events so we can grow toward Jesus together. Here at Grace, we believe it is important for all students to feel welcomed and encouraged to be their authentic self, no matter where they are in their walk with Jesus.

What We're About

Sunday Morning

Come join us from 11 a.m.-noon on the second floor of Massey Tucker Hall in room MT207. Every week we have food, games, and a lesson followed by discussion groups. Students dive deep into the Word while their parents attend their Equipping Hour class. We hope you'll join us!

CROWDED HOUSE

Every Sunday night during the school year from 5-7 p.m. in the Grace Courtyard we have "CH!" This is a chance for students to come together in a less formal setting. We play yard games, eat dinner, jam to music, and then break into small discipleship groups. We'd love to see you there!

abide night

Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30pm in MT207, we gather to worship and to break into small groups. We take a time every week to be grateful, to confess, and to ask for accountability. We have this night so that we can learn that God is God of every day, and we get to abide (to remain) in Him by actively walking with Him alongside fellow believers.

Mission

There are service opportunities throughout the year where students can make a difference. Some of these opportunities include serving on one of the Student Ministries' teams, helping with Children's ministries childcare and VBS events, and volunteering with other nearby schools and ministries throughout west Houston.

Confirmation at grace

All students in 8th grade or above are invited to join Grace Student Ministries in our annual Confirmation classes. Over the course of 12-16 weeks, students will learn about the basics of the Christian faith, what it means to be a follower of Jesus, and engage in the importance of being an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Each Sunday during the Student Equipping hour, those registered for Confirmation will partake in a separate class where they will enjoy donuts and a weekly teaching on different faith topics. Confirmation Sunday where students officially proclaim their faith and become members of the church is usually in early May.

David G. McKechnie Scholarship

The David G. McKechnie scholarships are to assist with the financial cost of education spanning from primary school through seminary. The Grace Church Endowment Board of Trustees has offered these scholarships for the last 8 years. As the trustees of the Endowment fund, we realize that many folks have suffered financial setbacks and job losses and the need for financial assistance is high. So, the trustees were especially grateful to be able to provide these scholarship funds to those qualified applicants. Click here to apply (coming soon).

Cole Knight Missions Scholarship Fund

The Cole Knight Missions Scholarship Fund helps pave the way for individuals in 8th -12th grade who display a servant heart and passion for serving God through serving others.

Who is Christopher Cole Knight?

Christopher Cole Knight was a young man with unstoppable faith and love for Christ and he lived to make that visible every day. Cole lived to serve and he invited others to do the same. He was truly a man with a mission.

The Cole Knight Missions Scholarship Fund was lovingly created by Cole's parents, Jan and Ken Knight, as a tangible way to carry on Cole’s mission. They wanted to help pave the way for individuals who display that same servant heart and passion for serving God through serving others that Cole had. Each year the Scholarship Fund helps scholarship recipients cover the cost of their participation in Grace Student Ministries mission trips and other mission opportunities throughout the year. Grace Student Ministries exists to support and love students in meaningful relationships that lead to lives transformed by Jesus through Grace's Worship, Equip, Serve, Together model. There are three main purposes for the 10-week Grace Summer Internship. First, the purpose is for students to grow in their relationship with Jesus through their relationship with the intern. Second, the purpose is to help the intern discern and develop any call he/she may have for ministry. And, third, the purpose is to educate the intern in how to be a follower of Christ both in and outside of a church position.

To apply for this position, you must be at least one year post your high school graduation.

Student Ministries Associates

It was the summer of 2021 when I joined Grace as a Summer Student Ministries Intern, since then I graduated from Baylor University and am now working as a full time Student Ministries Associate for Grace!

In my Grace intern application, I wrote that part of what I wanted from the internship was clarity on whether I should pursue ministry as a long-term goal or not. God is so good to answer my prayer and it's so exciting to know that I get to continue in the mission to create authentic Christian community among our students, leaders, staff, and community as a whole!

My family is from Georgia, but I’ve had the chance to live in a few different states growing up. Now, I am happy to call Texas home! When I'm not hanging out with Grace students, you can find me reading a book or sprinting around a tennis court!

I was born and raised in Houston and have spent my entire life at Grace, where my parents (Traci and Earl) have been members since 1991. I attended Grace School, Houston Christian High School, then went to Baylor for college. I originally pursued a major in Journalism/Broadcasting, but Jesus began to lead me toward ministry, so I switched my major to Religion with a focus on Practical Studies. In May 2020, I graduated from Baylor and began working at Grace as a Student Ministries Associate!

I love sports (of any kind), Chick-fil-A, and listening to music. I love spending time with my family and friends along with meeting new people! I am a firm believer that Jesus can use anyone’s story to impact others, and I love hearing how Jesus is working in peoples’ lives.  I am so excited to continue serving the church that has served me so well my entire life!
