CHRISTMAS FOR THE CITY 2025



On Sunday, December 14, join us for our 11th Annual Christmas for the City, as we bring the Grace family together for this special day of serving. This is always a special, intergenerational gathering to serve and love the city of Houston. Here are this year’s projects:

• Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Help build and/or deliver a bed for a child in our community who is currently sleeping on the floor or sharing with siblings. Our goal is to build over 55 beds!

• Kids’ Meals Lunch Assembly: Join us as we assemble 8000 lunches for food-insecure children across Houston.

• Kids’ Meals Sandwich Making: Help prepare 2500 meat and cheese sandwiches to go along with the assembled lunches.

• Build-a-Bear for Bed Recipients: A perfect project for younger kids! Help stuff bears, pray over them, and send them along with the beds being delivered. Once you finish, feel free to jump in and help with Kids’ Meals!

After worship, we’ll enjoy our traditional BBQ lunch before heading out to serve. Be sure to register in advance HERE! Let’s come together this Christmas to bring hope, joy, and love to children and families in our community!

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Your generous contributions will help us reach our financial goal of $15,000 to make these projects a reality! Lend your support HERE.
Beds and Bears: Purchase a bear for children who receive a bed for $15; bedding for $30; mattress for $100; single bed for $250; or a bunk bed for $500.
Lunches for Kids Meals: 20 lunches - $30; 200 lunches - $300; or 500 lunches - $750.
Sandwiches for Kids Meals: 1 dozen sandwiches for $6 (please purchase dozens and dozens of sandwiches!)

POINSETTIA DEDICATIONS



In celebration of the Advent and Christmas season, please consider dedicating a poinsettia flower to remember or honor someone you love. Dedications will be accepted through Sunday, December 14 and may be made online HERE.

Poinsettias you have dedicated will be available to pick up after the 5 p.m. service on Christmas Eve, or on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.  




BLUE CHRISTMAS



Sunday, December 7, 5 p.m., Founders’ Chapel
Grace invites you to a special holiday worship service designed for those for whom the holidays might be difficult. If you or someone you know have undergone a difficult loss, transition, or life change, the church cares about you and invites you to a special time of music, worship and reflection during the Advent season. The Lord calls us to care for others, especially during tender times. Be mindful of those around you and perhaps extend an invitation and offer to attend the worship service with them. What a blessing to be a blessing to others.

December Worship:
Sunday, December 14: Grace Kids Music Worship, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sanctuary; Christmas for the City day of service will follow the service.

Sunday, December 21: Third Sunday in Advent worship service, featuring Lessons & Carols, in the Sanctuary, at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday, December 24: Christmas Eve Worship Services

10:30 a.m.: Jammies and Jingle Bells for kids and their families, in the Sanctuary

3 p.m.: Candlelight and Communion worship service, in the Founders' Chapel

5 p.m.: Candlelight and Communion worship service, in the Sanctuary

7 p.m.: Grace en Español worship service, in the Founders' Chapel

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We don't have elves here at Grace, but we do have an amazing group of volunteers who arrive early on the Monday before Thanksgiving to outfit the entire campus for the season! Trees, lights, garlands, and wreaths are hung with care as we get ready for Advent and Christmas celebrations. Many thanks to all who pitched in to make Grace sparkle!

THE BIBLE IN A YEAR UPDATES

The latest episode of the Grace Cast is out now! Listen on Spotify or YouTube as Pastor Julia and Pastor Aaron walk us through major turning points in Joshua, Judges, and 1 Samuel. Grace Cast includes discussions from our pastors, ministry leaders and all generations of our congregation coming together to share their thoughts, insights, tough questions and summaries on our scripture readings. The format is light and conversational.

HERE you will find a multitude of other resources to help you with the reading plan, including videos, podcasts, and articles to bring greater insight to what you have read. You will also find recaps and summaries of sections for times when you may fall behind. Keep up the good work!

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via livestream HERE. Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent--join us as we enter season looking toward the birth of our savior. The Bible in a Year continues this Sunday. We are basing the sermon series on the passages we are currently reading, this week looking into 1 Kings 3:4-14. Also on on Sunday, we will have a Children at the Chancel time and celebrate the sacrament of The Lord's Supper. We will see you at 9:30!

FINANCIAL UPDATE

We would like to encourage everyone in their giving this month so we can end the year in a strong position and make the most of the Match Gift program. Your generosity makes a significant impact in the life of the church: the people, places, and the ministries in which we serve. You may present your gifts or set up a pledge online HERE. This is also the link to revise your pledge if you have been prayerfully reviewing The 5:10:5 Plan.

MATCH GIFT UPDATE

Though we are currently looking ahead to our 2026 budget, we are also striving to finish 2025 in a strong financial position. As you may know, a few families felt a specific calling from the Lord, and discerned a desire not only to give generously to the work God is doing here at Grace, but also to invite others to join them in this effort. These families have pledged to provide a match up to $300,000 for all operating fund gifts given to Grace in excess of our current 2025 target of $2,800,000.

• 2025 Target Goal is $2,800,000
• Remaining to Target Goal is $227,188
• Match Goal is $3,100,000
• Remaining to Match Goal is $527,188 (17%)

Once the actual collected 2025 revenue reaches this goal of $2,800,000, any additional giving beyond that amount will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $300,000.

We encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to make what you share even more transformative by giving generously to reach this matching gift.
