Wednesday, October 21, beginning with dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Grace is pleased to host James Tour, PhD, a synthetic chemist and nanotechnologist and endowed professor of chemistry at Rice University. As a secular Jew, Dr. Tour never thought much about God or religion until he was personally and powerfully faced with the reality of Jesus Christ. Today, he is one of the most eminent scientific scholars in the world, yet more than anything, he lives his life to help others find Jesus. Come hear Dr. Tour’s story about how he became a man of faith in Jesus and what you can do to be a thriving Christian and tell the resurrection story.

The event will begin with dinner and music in the Courtyard at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Tour will begin the lecture in Massey-Tucker Hall at 6:30 p.m., while the Family Ministries team will simultaneously host a children/student event in which the children and students can have their deep faith questions answered in a way that is both fun and engaging for them.

PASTOR APPRECIATION SUNDAY



Show some love for our amazing pastors--it's Pastor Appreciation Sunday on October 11! Bring a card or note on Sunday or stop by our table in the Welcome Center to write a note of gratitude for all they do. A heartfelt, handwritten note is one of the best gifts a pastor can receive! And remember, even pastors need prayers! Remember them and remember their families in your daily prayer time.




GRACE KIDS MUSIC & TRUNK OR TREAT



GRACE KIDS MUSIC: The Grace Kids Music program, affectionately called GKM, is an extension of the nurturing and loving atmosphere that all children experience while at Grace Presbyterian Church. This seasonal program is designed for kids to tell the stories of Jesus through their eyes through music and theater. GKM is for children and students who love, or may be introduced to, the arts in grades K-12. We will meet October-December with weekly rehearsals, and a Sunday morning program culminating in worship mid-December. GKM is a powerful tool for developing community, learning about Jesus, instilling confidence and having fun!

For 2026, GKM meets on Sundays from October 11 through December 6; from noon-3 p.m. in MTH B for lunch, and then moves to the Choir Room at 12:45 p.m. We will also have a dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 12. Our time together will include food, music, and fun as we prepare for our presentation on December 13 at 9:30 a.m.! The cost is $50 and includes lunch each week and a t-shirt. TRUNK OR TREAT: Sunday, October 25, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Athletic Fields Lot
Trunk or Treat is back, and we are so excited! Everyone in the congregation is invited to bring their car to the parking lot by the Athletic Field to decorate their trunk in all sorts of crazy ways! From 4:30-6:30 p.m., families are invited to come trick-or-treating through the trunks and spend time together! Come hungry... hot dogs will be provided by our Men’s Ministry!

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit—We celebrate what God is doing!

This past spring, we nominated fellow covenant partners (members) to serve in leadership as elders and deacons. This year's class of new leaders has been selected and on Sunday, we will get to vote our new elders and deacons into service. Grace, an ECO (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) congregation, is governed by the Session, which is composed of elders. The deacons provide care ministries to the congregation. Both elders and deacons are vital to the health of the congregation. These positions require different skills, talents, and gifts. Each has unique duties and requires different energies, and we are excited to welcome them into their leadership roles for the next three years.

Congratulations to Brett Bennett, Kim de Jong, Carey Dow, Jim Leeland, Brittany Mondlak, and Kent Whitten, nominated as elders; and to Susie Ecklund, Sylvia Kirkland,  Jane MacFarland, Daniel Malaguilla, Terrelyn Teinert, and Cindy Thomas as deacons.

WESTMINSTER CATECHISM UPDATES

Through the next few months of 2026 and into 2027, our sermon series will take us on a journey through the historic faith of the Presbyterian Church, guided by the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Each week, our sermons will begin with Scripture and remain rooted in God’s Word. But rather than simply moving through a book of the Bible, we’ll allow the questions and answers of the Westminster Catechism to help direct the sermon scripture selection as we explore what we believe about God, ourselves, salvation, Jesus Christ, and what it means to live faithfully as His people.

To help us, the Grace website has a page with many resources and deeper information. You may find it HERE. 

Printed copies of the Catechism are available in the church lobby, or in a downloadable format on the website. We've also provided a printable reading plan, and a series of weekly discussion questions for your classes, small groups, or your own study time.

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via the "Watch Online" link found HERE.

This Sunday, our sermon series "Truth That Transforms: A Journey Through The Westminster Catechism" continues. This week we will be hearing a reading from Matthew 28:18-20 and looking at questions 5 and 6 of the Catechism. It is the first Sunday of October--World Communion Sunday--and we remember and affirm Christ as the head of the church, and recognize the unity of believers in Jesus Christ with Christians across the world!

There will be a lunch after our World Communion Worship service on October 4 in Massey Tucker Hall. The congregation is encouraged to remain after the service and experience different cuisines from around the world, and learn about our global mission partners. Please let us know you'll be attending our World Communion lunch. Your RSVP helps us plan appropriately and ensure there is plenty of food for everyone to enjoy. Register HERE.

Note that following the worship service on Sunday, October 4, 2026, there will be a Congregational Meeting for all covenant partners to elect elders and deacons, as well as at-large representatives to the Church Officer Nominating Committee.
