Grace Weekly

  1. CHURCH OFFICER NOMINATIONS
  2. Each year at Grace, we nominate fellow covenant partners (members) to serve in leadership as elders and deacons. This year's class of new leaders will serve a three-year commitment beginning January 1, 2025.

Grace, an ECO (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) congregation, is governed by the Session, which is composed of elders. The deacons provide care ministries to the congregation. Both elders and deacons are vital to the health of the congregation. These positions require different skills, talents, and gifts. Each has unique duties and requires different energies. Both deacons and elders are required to adhere to the ECO Essential Tenets.

We encourage you to give thought to those at Grace with whom you've interacted, and consider if they may be suited to take on one of these roles.  You'll find more information and the nomination forms online HERE. The deadline is Sunday, May 12.

  3. THE 5:10:5 PLAN
  4. Given the financial reality we are in, the Session has recently adopted what we are calling The 5:10:5 Plan. These steps will allow Grace to be in the black in five years, and allow us to fulfill God's mission to make disciples by equipping every generation to share both God's good news and their everyday lives. As we implement The 5:10:5 Plan, we ask everyone to prayerfully discern taking the next right step.

    1. For the first step, we are asking you, the congregation, to go before the Lord and discern increasing giving by 5%, which, for example, would mean a person giving a yearly gift of $5000 would add an additional $250 for the year. This cycle would repeat for five years.
    2. The second part of the plan is a 10% increase in people who give, whether individuals or family units. This increase would be measured when new covenant partners and guests start giving for the first time, or if current partners are not giving regularly, we are hoping they will start. This will also repeat for five years.
    3. After five years, we hope that you will have grown in your trust of the Lord and will have deepened your Discipleship journey. We are truly grateful for this collective effort to continue to do God's will with the gifts He has given us.

More details about The 5:10:5 Plan can be found by watching Pastor Julia's presentation from April 7 HERE. You may fast forward to the 36 minute mark to hear her remarks.

If you have already made a pledge and would like to add 5%, or if you have not made a pledge before and would like to make that commitment, visit the Grace pledge page HERE.

  5. MEALS FOR MINISTRIES
  6. Help feed our people! Sharing a meal together has long been acknowledged as a wonderful way to spark conversation and make people feel at ease with one another. Many Grace ministries events are centered on that premise. You can help these ministries thrive by providing a meal for the folks participating. The opportunities and complete details can be found HERE. Bookmark that list--currently there are several Student Ministries events that could use your help, but as Summer continues and then as new Fall events begins, we will be adding to this list, so check back often and help out when you can!

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing!

We are amazed at all of the ways that God is working through this congregation and how many lives have been touched throughout our city and the world. Many times, that requires us to step out in faith and out of our comfort zones to answer God's call to spread the gospel. We have been learning to stand before God with an open life--we are learning to hold loosely to our time, treasures, talents, relationships, and truth and become more generous, knowing that all of those things are from God. Earlier in April, Kelly Strange, a Grace covenant partner, shared her story of how giving something away changed her life as she helped change the lives of others. Watch Kelly tell her story HERE.
